LEICESTER, Mass. – Hawks Director of Athletic Operations Nikki Narducci announced the hiring of David Rixham as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications, effective August 5.
In his role, Rixham will be the primary contact for field hockey, women's soccer, men's ice hockey, women's ice hockey, and men's lacrosse in 2019-20.
"I'd like to thank Director of Athletics Frank Millerick, Assistant Athletic Director Andrea Belis, and Director of Athletic Operations Nikki Narducci for appointing me to this role," said Rixham. "I can't wait to get started working with the coaches and student-athletes to promote the Hawks at the highest level."
Rixham comes to Becker following three years as Sports Information Director at Newbury College, where he oversaw communications for their 14 NCAA Division III programs.
"I am excited to welcome David Rixham to the Becker Athletics staff as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications," commented Narducci. "David's familiarity with the NECC makes a smooth transition into this position at Becker. I am fully confident that David will bring innovative ideas to the table, help promote the athletic department and share the success stories of our student-athletes."
While on the Nighthawks staff, Rixham was responsible for all statistical data, coordinating live video and stats for home games, updates to the Nighthawks athletic website and social media pages, and coordinating and scheduling athletic contests.
"Having been at Newbury and involved with the New England Collegiate Conference for the last three seasons, I have seen the tremendous student-athletes that Becker has," said Rixham. "I couldn't be more excited to work with what I consider some of the NECC's best athletes here at Becker."
Prior to his time at Newbury, Rixham spent two semesters as an Athletics Intern at Worcester State University in 2015-16, where he was responsible for play-by-play of Lancers home events, conducting interviews with student-athletes, and composing post-game articles following events.
As a student-athlete, Rixham played four seasons of golf, captaining Worcester State in his last two seasons of eligibility. In his final season of 2015, Rixham led the Lancers to their first team title in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Golf Championships for the first time in 30 years.
Along with his experience in golf, Rixham has been involved with several other sports, including having spent 15 years as an official for U.S. Soccer.
A native of Northbridge, Mass., Rixham graduated from Worcester State University in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in Communication, concentrated in Journalism.
