LEICESTER, Mass. --- Freshman running back Randy Morgan (Spring Hill, Fla. / Springstead) of the Becker College football team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Football Offensive Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 6, 2019.
Morgan rushed for 152 yards on the ground off just 16 carries during Becker's 28-12 loss to Husson University on Saturday, averaging 9.5 yards per attempt. The first-year year recorded the Hawks' first touchdown of the day off a 10 yard carry with 2:19 to go in the first quarter. Morgan also added two catches for 28 receiving yards and returned three kickoffs for a total of 49 yards, giving him 229 all-purpose yards on the day. Morgan's 152 rushing yards ranks sixth all-time in Becker football history for a single game, while his 229 all-purpose yards ranks fifth. His 9.5 yards per carry ranks third among all players with a minimum of ten carries in a game.
With 545 rushing yards through five games this season, Morgan already ranks fourth in school history for the most rushing yards in a season.
It is the third time this season that Morgan has been named the CCC Offensive Rookie of the Week. He was previously so recognized for the weeks ending September 7th and September 15th.
Becker is off next week with a bye, but the Hawks will be back on the field on Saturday, October 19th when they travel to Nichols College for a 12:00 p.m. game against their CCC cross-county rivals, the Bison.
