LEICESTER, Mass. – Becker College defeated Bay Path University 3-0 in New England Collegiate Conference women's field hockey action Tuesday afternoon at Alumni Field. The win lifts the Hawks record to 6-11 (5-2 NECC), while the Wildcats fall to 4-8 (3-5 NECC).
Katherine Landanno (Winchendon, Mass.) put the Hawks on the board 11:33 into the game when she delivered a pass from Katherine DiMasico (Braintree, Mass.) into the left corner of the Bay Path net for her fifth goal of the season.
Brittney Bebeau (Harrisville, R.I.) extended the Becker lead to 2-0 early in the second half when she took a free ball past a few Wildcat defenders, beating Anna Meyer (Millbrook, N.Y.) for her ninth maker of the season.
Amy Grenier (Westminster, Mass.) put the game out of reach with a penalty stroke in 45th minute to make the final 3-0.
Gabrielle Gallo (Northport, N.Y.) earned her third shutout of the season after turning away all three shots she faced. Anna Meyer suffered the loss despite making seven saves. Bethany Rogers (Plymouth, Mass.) made four stops in the final 24:08 of the game. Abigail Seay (Marblehead, Mass.) made a defensive save in the loss.
Both teams will continue conference play on Saturday, October 24th. Becker will host Regis College at 11:00 a.m., while the Bay Path hosts Wheelock College at 2:00 p.m.
