CHICOPEE, Mass. – Becker College defeated Bay Path University 3-1 in New England Collegiate Conference women's field hockey action Saturday afternoon. The win lifts the Hawks record to 4-14 (4-4 NECC) while the Wildcats slip to 1-10 (1-6 NECC).
The victory also solidifies Becker's eighth consecutive trip to the NECC Playoffs.
Becker fell into an early 1-0 hole 9:29 into the game on a Sabrinna Dubiel goal, putting Bay Path in front 1-0.
Becker tied the game in the 14th minute when Jocelyn Lebel (Grafton, Mass.) netted her fourth goal of season on assists from Amy Grenier (Westminster, Mass.) and Samantha Carter (Boothbay Harbor, Maine). With 1:12 remaining in the first half, Carter scored what proved to be the game winner on a feed from Brianna Kyc (Rockland, Mass.).
Lebel would give the Hawks a much needed insurance goal in the 68th minute to make the final 3-1.
Becker goalie Elysabeth Jefferies (Lisbon Falls, Maine) made six saves.
