AMCATS nix Field Hockey, 8-2

Field Hockey fell to Elms in NECC opener

LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College field hockey team lost 8-2 to visiting Anna Maria College on Thursday afternoon at Alumni Field in Leicester.


The Hawks of Becker (0-3) had goals from junior forward Jocelyn Lebel (Grafton, Mass. / Grafton) and sophomore midfielder Amy Cooper (Monument, Colo. / Lewis Palmer), both scoring their first goals of the season. Junior goalie Alexis Barry (Manchester, N.H. / Manchester Central) recorded 11 saves in net.


The AMCATS of Anna Maria (1-1) were led by a hat trick from senior forward Nicole Denver (Springfield, Mass. / Cathedral), scoring three times and collecting an assist. Sophomore midfielder Anne Melanson (Grafton, Mass. / Grafton) scored twice, while sophomore midfielder Lauren Lapierre (Worcester, Mass. / Worcester South), senior midfielder Jacqueline Lapierre (Worcester, Mass. / South) and sophomore forward Allyson Shaw (Holden, Mass. / Wachusett) each scored once.


Becker is back on the field next Thursday when they host Salem State University at 4:00 p.m. Anna Maria hosts Regis College on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
