LEICESTER, Mass. --- Senior guard Kareem Davis (Lowell, Mass. / St. John's) of the Becker College men's basketball has been named the New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the week ending January 27th, 2019.
Davis continued to demonstrate why he was one of the most dynamic players in the region this past week, as he averaged 35.5 points per game over two games. The senior team captain shot 60 percent from the floor, 57.1 percent from behind the arc and 86.7 percent from the free throw line. During Tuesday's 107-85 victory at Lesley, Davis poured in a career-high 40 points with three steals. Facing Eastern Nazarene on Thursday, Davis became Becker's all-time leading scorer with his 31 point outburst, passing Samuel Durodola's 1699 career points set last season.
Davis was also named the Worcester Area College Basketball Association (WACBA) Player of the Week and the Becker Athlete of the Week for the same period. This marks the third time this season that Davis has been named the NECC Player of the Week, having previously taken the award for the weeks ending December 2nd and December 16th, 2018. He was the WACBA Player of the Week for the weeks ending December 16th and January 20th, and the Becker Athlete of the week for weeks ending December 16th and January 6th, 2019.
The Hawks will be back on the court on Wednesday, January 30th when they travel to Mitchell College for a 6:00 p.m. game.
