Men's  Hockey Comes Up Short In CCC Quarterfinal

BURRILLVILLE, R.I.- The Becker College men's ice hockey team fell to Nichols College 3-1 in the quarterfinal of the Inaugural Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament. With the loss, the Ice Hawks finished their season with a record of 6-19-1.

After a scoreless first, Nichols got on the board 13:06 into the second period on an Ian Spencer goal.

Becker tied the game with 1:41 remaining in the period when Connor Allison (Hillsboro, Ore.) and Connor Merrick (Manchester, N.H.) connected with Nicholas McKee (Bakersfield, Calif.) for his fifth goal of the season.

The Bison took the lead back 2:25 into the third when J.B Baker and D.J. Goldstein found Matthew Menta for his seventh maker of the season.

Becker had a chance to tie the game when they earned a power-play opportunity with 2:02 remaining in regulation. The Ice Hawks made it a two-man advantage when they pulled goalie Tyler Stepke.

The Ice Hawks got three shots from Corey Sherman, but J.B Baker. was able to score for the Bison on the empty net, making the final score 3-1.

In his final game as an Ice Hawk, Tyler Stepke made 48 stops in the loss.
