Wildcats skate past Men's Ice Hockey

WORCESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College men's ice hockey team lost 4-0 to visiting Johnson & Wales University on Thursday night at the Fidelity Ice Center in Worcester.

The Wildcats of Johnson & Wales (2-4, 2-3 CCC) got on the board early in the game when freshman forward Graham Day (Rochester, Mich. / Metro Jets (NA3HL)) scored with assists to freshman defender Jason Recchia (Shelby Township, Mich. / Metro Jets (NA3HL)) and junior forward Ryan Sete (Jackson, Mich. / Michigan Warriors) just 5:50 into the game. Then on a power play with 2:36 to go in the first, Sete scored himself with the assist to junior forward Nicholas Pezza (Smithfield, R.I. / Boston Bandits) as the visitors went up 2-0.

After a scoreless second period, Sete scored again with 6:34 remaining in the third, assisted by Day and Pezza. Finally, with just 1:48 to go, junior center Zachary England (Redbank, N.J. / New Hampshire Jr Monarchs) put one in the net, assisted by junior forward Victor Carlsson (Calmar, Sweden / Idaho Jr Steelheads).

For the Ice Hawks of Becker (2-4-1, 1-4 CCC), freshman goaltender Ryan Clifford (Coventry, R.I. / Cape Cod Islanders) finished the night with 29 saves while Johnson & Wales freshman goalie Mike Rockwell (Poughquag. N.Y. / Hartford Jr. Wolfpack (EHL)) had 17 stops in the win. The Wildcats outshot the Hawks, 33-17.

Becker and Johnson & Wales will be back on the ice on Saturday when the Hawks travel to Providence to play the Wildcats again in a 5:35 p.m. game.
