Petersen Scores 100th Goal As Men's Lacrosse Soars Past Emerson

Boston, Mass.- Becker College junior Jeff Petersen (Syracuse, N.Y.) scored his 100th career goal as the Hawks defeated Emerson College 19-9 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's lacrosse action Wednesday evening.

Petersen put the Hawks on the board just 22 seconds into the contest on an assist from John DeAngelis (Swampscott, Mass.). After Emerson tied the game at 1-1, Becker scored six unanswered goals. Freshman attacker James Conley (Barnstable, Mass.) was responsible for three of the six goals. After Shane Balestacci (Pawcatuck, Conn.) put Becker in front 8-2, Jeff Petersen tallied his 100th career goal at the 7:44 mark of the second quarter. Petersen became the third men's lacrosse player at Becker College to reach 100 career goals, joining Aaron Fill and Josh Fask.

James Conley led the Hawks with a game high five goals. Petersen finished with four goals and Alex Hurd (Chelmsford, Mass.) added hat-trick to pace Becker to the victory. Joe Ignagni (Kingston, Mass.) and Shane Balestacci chipped in with two goals each.

Becker goalie Michael Munoz (Avon, Conn.) made ten saves as the Hawks improved their record to 4-10 overall and 4-4 in the GNAC.
