WESTON, Mass. --- The Becker College men's soccer team lost 5-0 at Regis College on Saturday afternoon at Regis Stadium.
The Pride struck quickly six-and-a-half minutes into the contest as Derek Triana (Port St. Lucie, Fla.), making his return to the pitch after missing the last three matches, sent the ball towards goal. Fabyanno Furbino (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) was able to direct it into the net for his third goal in as many matches.
In the 15th minute, Triana would pick up his fourth goal of the season on a penalty kick to increase the Pride lead to 2-0. Just over three minutes later, Ken Niyonzima (Dracut, Mass.) would earn his team-high seventh goal of the year, giving Regis a 3-0 advantage that it would maintain through halftime.
Just over four minutes into the second half, on a Regis corner kick, Cesar Da Silva (Boca Raton, Fla.) sent the ball into the box, where Diego Roman (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) was able to make contact on a header and steer the ball into the back of the net for his second goal of the season. The Pride scored one more time in the 57th minute when Furbino slipped the ball to Jared Barroso (Central Falls, R.I.) in the box, and Barroso converted for his first goal of the year.
Jesse Bonilla (Ramona, Calif.) played the entire first half in net for the Pride and collected three saves, two of them coming on Becker shots within the final seven minutes of the half. Freddie Beckmann (Franklin, Mass.) started the second half and played almost 30 minutes without seeing a shot on goal. Senior Andrew Barros (Malden, Mass.) played the remaining 15:18 and made one save in his first action of the season.
Becker (2-10-1) did not earn a corner kick chance the entire afternoon and was outshot by Regis, 20-9. Three different players led the Hawks with two shots apiece. Sam Majewski started in net and made two saves before being replaced by Tyler Marzocchi with 28:41 remaining in the second half, with Marzocchi also picking up two saves.
