Martel Shoots Women's Basketball Past Wildcats

LEICESTER, Mass. – Becker College defeated Bay Path University 55-42 in New England Collegiate Conference women's basketball action Saturday afternoon. The win lifts the Hawks record to 2-20 (2-13 NECC), while the Wildcats falter to 4-15 (4-11 NECC).

Senior Brooke Martel (Griswold, Conn.) paced the Hawks with a game-high 23 points. Martel also had 11 boards to earn a double-double.  Alyssa Bond (Thompson, Conn.) pulled down a team-best 14 rebounds, while chipping in with six points. Marissa Turner (Coventry, R.I.) netted eight points off the bench.

Bay Path was led by Brenna Roy (Stafford Springs, Conn.) with 15 points and eight rebounds. Aaliyah Gordon (Springfield, Mass.) added 11 points, while Frankie Wauneka (Easthampton, Mass.) pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds. Wauneka and Kaylee Herring (Worcester, Vt.) finished the game with eight points apiece.

Both teams return to action on Monday, February 16 with Becker hosting Daniel Webster College at 3:00 p.m., while Bay Path welcomes Lesley University at 6:00 p.m.
