LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's basketball team is preparing for their fifth season under head coach David Bostick.

The Hawks are coming off a 2017-18 season that saw them claim their first New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship, reaching the NCAA Tournament for just the second time in school history.

The Hawks were picked to finish first in a preseason poll of NECC coaches, with 89 points including four of the ten first-place votes. (To view the poll, please click here)

Junior guard Cassidy Harrison (Foxborough, Mass. / Foxborough) leads the Hawks, having last season led the team in scoring at 16.2 points per game, earning NECC All-Conference First Team honors. Harrison was named the Tournament MVP for her performance in the NECC playoffs, averaging 19.7 points per game with 4.0 steals while shooting 47.7 percent from the floor and 45 percent from behind the arc in the postseason. Harrison led the conference in total points, three-point shooting, three-pointers made, free-throw shooting and steals.

Senior forward Adrianna Dowdy (East Haven, Conn. / Hill Regional Career) was voted NECC All-Conference Second Team. It was the second straight year Dowdy has been recognized by the conference. Last season, Dowdy led the Hawks in shooting (52.1 percent), rebounding (10.9 rebounds per game), total blocks (16) and total minutes (933).

Senior forward Ciara McKissick (Charlton, Mass. / Shepherd Hill Regional) recovered from an injury that cost her most of her season to play a huge part in the Hawks' title run, as she scored 16 points with eight rebounds in the championship game against Newbury College. Earlier in the season, McKissick recorded a triple-double against Mound Ida College on January 2nd.

Dowdy and McKissick are joined by senior guard Katey Anderson (Beachwood, N.J. / Toms River) as this season's trio of captains.

Last season, the Hawks led the NECC in forcing turnovers, ranking 14th in the nation at 24.31 per game.

The Hawks will open their season on Friday night when they play WPI in the first round of the Worcester City Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
