Chatham downs Women’s Ice Hockey, 4-0


WORCESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's ice hockey team lost 4-0 to visiting Chatham University on Saturday afternoon at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.

The Cougars of Chatham (2-5) scored twice early in the first period, with junior forward Kristina Block (Scarborough, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) scoring just 1:44 into the game for her fifth goal of the season, assisted by senior defender Emma McFarlane (Ottawa, Ont./Perth Predators). Just two minutes later, senior defender Kassandra Petersen (Faribault, Minn. / Minnesota Blades) scored her fifth goal of the season unassisted, as the visitors went up 2-0.

After a scoreless second period, Chatham senior forward Cassidy Colhoun (Kincardine, Ont./Saugen-Mailland Lightning) scored her sixth goal of the season off a power play just 1:45 into the third, assisted by McFarlane and freshman defender Danielle Bos (Niagara Falls, N.Y. / Buffalo Bison). Then with 2:47 to go in the game, Peterson scored again, assisted by sophomore forward Holly Ackerman (East Rockaway, N.Y./Brewster Academy) for the final score of 4-0.

The Hawks of Becker (1-5-2) were led by junior goalie Julia Johnson (Littleton, Colo. / Walpole Express) with 44 saves in net. Chatham senior goalie Sydney Isbell (Thunder Bay, Ont./Thunder Bay Queens) recorded 21 stops in the shutout. The Cougars outshot the Hawks 48-21.

The two teams will have a quick turnaround as they will meet again on Sunday at 1:00 p.m., playing once again at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.
