HENNIKER, N.H. – Becker College got a pair of third period goals from Claudia Gee to defeate New England College 2-1 in non-conference women's hockey action Friday evening. The win lifts the Hawks record to 2-8-2, while the Pilgrims fall to 1-8-1.
After a scoreless first period, NEC scored its lone goal on the penalty-kill when a Morgan Lamos (St. Albans, Vt.) clear attempt from the far blue line, took a nasty bounce past Becker goalie Madison Rigsby (O'Fallon, Mo.).
With the game tied late in the third, Becker got a power-play opportunity after a tripping call on NEC. Freshman Cameron Payne (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) stepped up on a loose puck to keep it in the offensive zone. Payne then ripped a shot on net, which was redirected by Claudia Gee for the game-winner.
Rigsby tallied 40 saves in net for Becker, while NEC's Ashley Castriotta (Framingham, Mass.) had 32 saves. The Pilgrims outshot Becker 41-32 on the evening.
Becker returns to action on Sunday, December 10th with a home tilt against SUNY Potsdam at 5:00 p.m.
