Women's Ice Hockey falls to SUNY Potsdam, 3-1


WORCESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's ice hockey team lost 3-1 to visiting SUNY Potsdam on Sunday night at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.

The Hawks of Becker (2-9-2) got on the board first 7:58 into the second on a two-man advantage power play when junior forward Claudia Gee (Randolph, Vt. / Vermont Shamrocks) scored on a slap shot, assisted by junior forward Bailey Coons (Casper, Wyo. / Team Wyoming) and junior defender Elysabeth Jefferies (Lisbon Falls, Maine / Hebron Academy).

The Bears of SUNY Potsdam (7-4-1) answered with three goals in the third, however, with sophomore forward Lucy Condon (Kitchener, Ontario/Waterloo Ravens), sophomore defender Shelbi Thacker (Chesterfield, Mich./Honeybaked) and senior forward Brenna Wilson (Kanata, Ontario/Ottawa Senators) each finding the back of the net. Condon and Thacker's goals both came off power plays.

Becker junior goalie Madison Rigsby (O'Fallon, Mo. / Dallas Stars Elite) posted 47 saves while SUNY Potsdam sophomore goalie Kayla McCabe (Watertown, N.Y./Syracuse Nationals) finished with 22 saves. The Bears outshot the Hawks, 50-23.

Becker is back on the ice on Saturday when they travel to the University of New England for a 4:00 p.m. game. SUNY Potsdam hosts Hamilton on Tuesday, January 9th at 3:00 p.m.
