LEICESTER, Mass. --- Freshman defender Kylian Kelly (Shrewsbury, Mass. / Shrewsbury) of the Becker College women's lacrosse team has been named the final Becker Athlete of the Week for the week ending May 5, 2019.
Kelly, the defensive lynchpin for the Hawks all season, had a sensational week for Becker, leading her team to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship Game.
Facing Southern Vermont College on Thursday in the NECC semifinals, Kelly posted five draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers as Becker advanced to the title game for the first time since 2014 with a 16-2 victory. Then against New England College in the title game, Kelly finished with a hat trick of three goals with seven caused turnovers, six ground balls and three draw controls. Although Becker came up short in an 18-6 loss, Kelly was named to the NECC All-Tournament Team for her fantastic play.
In just her first season with the Hawks, Kelly destroyed the single-season school record in caused turnovers with 55, easily eclipsing the previous record of 45. Kelly ranked fourth in the nation in caused turnovers per game with 3.67. Kelly's 84 ground balls also ranked her second in school history, and she was sixth in the nation this year with 5.60 ground balls per game.
With the end of the 2018-2019 school year, Kelly is the final Becker Athlete of the Week for this year.
Congratulations to all of the Becker Athletes of the Week for this season!
