LEICESTER, Mass. – The Becker College women's soccer team was shutout by the visiting Lynx of Lesley College in both team's regular season New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) finales at Alumni Field Wednesday evening.

Lesley's first goal came in the ninth minute when Xaelel Allen-Caballe (Henrietta, N.Y.) scored from the left side following a Becker defender deflection for the 1-0 gain. Late in the half, the Lynx put up another tally on a Samantha Bessey (Algonquin, Ill.) goal, as she chipped the ball up and over Becker's goaltender, Lyndsey Cobb-Wilkins (Elmira, N.Y.). The Lynx led 2-0 at the intermission.
Lesley upped the score to 3-0 mid-way through the second frame when McKenna Straube (Junction City, Ore.) found the back of the net off a Sam Ring (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) corner kick. The Lynx racked up 21 shots in the second frame, while Becker saw none.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Lynx outshot the Hawks 35-2 throughout the game. Becker's lone two shots came in the first frame from Kyra Teixeira (Old Lyme, Conn.) and Shannon Kelley (Bellingham, Mass.).
- Lesley accumulated eight corner kicks, while Becker had zero corner kick opportunities.
- Lesley's goaltender, Brittley Gaan (Bellevue, Wash.) recorded the win in 90 minutes played.
- Becker's rookie, Cobb-Wilkins, suffered the loss, saving 10-of-13 (.769) shots on net. Senior Jordyn Martel (Chicopee, Mass.) played the last 14 minutes and stopped four shots on goal.
The NECC women's soccer tournament begins on Saturday (Oct. 27) with the quarterfinal rounds. Each team will await the pairings, which will be announced tomorrow.
