LEICESTER, Mass. – Daniel Webster defeated Becker College 3-2 in New England Collegiate Conference women's volleyball action Saturday afternoon. The win lifts the Eagles record 6-15 (4-4 NECC), while the Hawks fall to 7-21 (3-5 NECC).
Daniel Webster took the first two sets with scores of 25-18 and 26-24. The Hawks rallied to take the next two sets 27-25 and 25-9, before the Eagles clipped the Hawks in the fifth set 15-11.
Courtney Warrington (Canton, Texas) paced the Eagles with a game high 14 kills. Setter Nicole Beard (Shelton, Conn.) provided a game best 27 assists. Sharline Polycarpe (Dorchester, Mass.) finished with nine kills, while Amber Wilson (Burlington, Mass.) and Amanda Gendron (Mount Vernon, N.H.) chipped in with eight kills each.
The Hawks were led by Samantha Caouette (Montague, Mass.) with a team best 12 kills. Marissa Turner (Coventry, Conn.) finished with ten kills and four blocks. Kirsti Hadzewycz (Daytona Beach, Fla.) added ten kills, while Charlene Landry (Gorham, Maine) and Samantha Lee (Prospect, Conn.) combined for 33 assists.
Both teams will return to action on Tuesday, November 4 when they enter the NECC Tournament.
