DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth used a season-high .250 team attack percentage on 41 kills to blank Becker on Thursday evening, cruising to a 3-0 non-conference win at the Tripp Athletic Center.

How it Happened
Junior outside hitter Amanda LaCroix (East Freetown, Mass.) unleashed a match-high 19 kills on a career-high .630 attack percentage to lead the Corsair offense while also recording a team-high nine digs. Sophomore Nicole Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) chipped in 11 kills while hitting .241, with the offense fueled by freshman setter Riley Thomas's (Fairhaven, Mass.) 36 assists.
The Hawks received a team-high six kills from Kayla Dupree (North Bergen, N.J.), with junior libero Courtney Cotnoir (Douglas, Mass.) digging nine balls. Senior Charlene Landry (Gorham, Maine) tallied 12 assists.
UMass Dartmouth jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead on back-to-back Jillian Sykora (Waterford, Conn.) aces to open the first set and wouldn't relinquish the lead, taking a 25-19 decision. The Corsairs held Becker to just four kills while generating a match-high 15 including seven by LaCroix. The Hawks cut within two to make the score 18-16, forcing a UMass Dartmouth timeout, but five straight Corsair points out of the break clinched the set.
A .370 cumulative attack percentage allowed the hosts to secure a 25-12 margin in the second. With the score at 7-6 in favor of UMass Dartmouth, Thomas teamed with Silverman for four-straight kills to bump the Corsairs further in front. Becker held just five more serves on the remainder of the set as UMass Dartmouth overpowered the net.
The final set held much of the same, with LaCroix's serve breaking the Corsairs out of a 5-5 tie and into a 10-5 lead. Becker edged back within three at 15-12, but UMass Dartmouth took six of the next eight points to put the advantage out of reach.
Inside the Numbers
• LaCroix turned out one of the strongest single-game attack performances in recent years, as she finished with just two errors on 27 attempts. She currently ranks third in the Little East Conference at 3.91 kills per set.
• With two more service aces tonight, Sykora paces the league with 0.67 aces per set. The libero rounded out her line with four assists and four digs.
• UMass Dartmouth's 41-kill total is the highest for the Corsairs in a three-set match so far this season.
• The Corsairs have now won five of their last six, a first for a UMass Dartmouth team since the 2012 season when the Corsairs went 20-9 overall.
UMass Dartmouth hosts LEC foe Keene State and Lesley for a tri-match beginning at noon on Saturday. Becker will travel to Castleton to meet the Spartans and Green Mountain the same day, beginning at 1 p.m.
